This painting was inspired by an original song, written by my good friend Patrick Enkjer. His song “Cold Gray Day” was the inspiration, and he holds the original.

With lyrics like:

“the cold waves were crashing on the lake”
“the wind’s blowing harder than the birds can take”
“yesterday the birds were soaring”

It challenged me to put to canvas what Patrick was feeling.
